Never go during the day shift Monday through Thursday, 11-6, there is only one bartender and most of them are jaded by the neighborhood. However night crew and the rotating kitchen are a great experience they will try there best to get to you try not to be "that guy/girl": The one who thinks there time is worth more than anyone else that also needs to order. It's pretty calm in during the day and gets very busy at night they do have tvs for sports but they definitely try to stray away from the sports bar environment. Food is constantly changing so if you don't like it at one time come back 3 months later you'll get something new
We ordered food from the QR code on the tables. It was great bar food. Excellent!!! Drinks from the bar were spot on. The pub feel and casual atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for!! Recommend for sure!
Years later Mugs is still crushing it and the kitchen is about to open - cannot imagine how much this place will be buzzing. Chris the bartender is great and attentive as well as informative about the liquors. Joel is friendly and warm. The place is always packed and filled with great people - I'm impressed after 3 decades + of this place being open!
This bar is awesome! Great for groups, fair prices, and a good selection of beers on draft. They also have happy hour every day from noon to 6. I can see this being a great place to meet up with friends regularly, and the staff is very friendly.
An old favorite of mine from the indie rock days when my rehearsal space was just down the street. Now it's reborn with the same swerve. Audrey's set list is clutch and there's a an old pay phone where you can call your dad if your cell phone is dead. BONUS: pay phone is free. If you still have romance in your life, give it a chance. ;)
Mugs Ale House is a solid choice for a pub. I came in last Tuesday night and was happy that I decided to have dinner, a few drinks and watch the end of an MLB playoff game here (Red Sox Win!). Mugs Ale House has a good selection for drafts and a very well stocked bar. The food menu was also decent with a good selection of what you might want to order at a pub. I sat at the bar and the service was exceptional. The decor was the classic pub style. For my meal, I ordered a skirt steak with mashed potatoes and it was exactly what I was expecting. For drinks, I had two different IPA's and was happy with both. I also ordered a couple of Jameson's ... There was an excellent selection of whiskey if I had wanted something that was not basic. All in all, I was not blown away, but I definitely recommend Mugs Ale House. In summary, I would be a regular if I lived within 8 blocks.
